Vodafone is pleased to announce a new partnership with TeachFirst.
In the UK, only one in three children living in poverty achieves basic grades at GCSE (that’s five GCSEs at grades A*-C) whilst twice as many of their wealthier peers do so. This has a knock-on effect throughout their lifetime and significantly limits their career opportunities after school.
Teach First knows that one great teacher can change the story of a child’s lifetime, so they train top graduates and professionals to be inspiring teachers and place them in schools in low-income areas across England and Wales. They empower schools to give their pupils the best possible start in life, and provide programmes to support them with access to careers, such as work experience opportunities and support with university applications.
Vodafone and Teach First are working in partnership to ensure that every child in the UK has a brilliant education regardless of where they grew up or how much their parents earn.
Together, we will bring the world of work to life for pupils from low-income communities by providing work experience opportunities and Insight Days; we will work with inspiring teachers to equip young people with the skills and knowledge they need for a career after school; and, together with the Diana Award, we will share our unique skills by delivering digital resilience workshops in schools.
