If a child is struggling to overcome a traumatic experience…

ASSIST Trauma Care - A specialist third sector organisation that offers therapeutic help to adults, children and families affected by a variety of traumatic experiences.

If a child is struggling with an eating disorder…

Beat - A charity that provides support and training for people, both young and old, affected by eating disorders. The service offers two different helplines, one for adults and another for children, and lines are open all year round from 3pm -10pm.

If you’re worried you or someone you know is being groomed online…

CEOP- This organisation is designed to protect children from sexual abuse and grooming online. The site gives children, parents and concerned adults the option to report cases of online abuse either about themselves or someone they know. All reporting is secure and after your report has been reviewed by CEOP, a child protection advisor will contact you to discuss next steps.

If a child needs someone to talk to about what’s on their mind…

Childline - A telephone and online service designed to help anyone under 19 years old in the UK with whatever they’re going through, whether it’s mental health issues, loneliness, apathy, anger or bullying. Childline is free and confidential to call and young people are connected directly to qualified counsellors who can signpost places on where to get further support.

If a child is having suicidal thoughts…

PAPYRUS - A national charity for the prevention of young suicide. The service includes HOPELine UK, a specialist telephone service for young people under the age of 35 who may be having thoughts of suicide. You can either call or send a text message and a trained professional will offer practical advice and information.

If a child is struggling with their mental health…

Young Minds - The UK’s leading charity committed to improving the wellbeing and mental health of children and young people. It offers information on different mental health conditions, the various symptoms and common feelings. There is also a section of the website for parents of children who are struggling with their mental health, complete with literature and videos on what they can do to help.
