Parent Zone CEO to speak at UNICEF Summit in Albania
The VIRAL Summit will look at a ‘better internet for children and adolescents in Albania’
On Monday 26 November, Parent Zone founder and CEO Vicki Shotbolt will be speaking at the VIRAL Summit in Albania about how we can support parents in a digital age.
Internet safety was one of the key areas that benefitted from UNICEF donors last year and UNICEF’s Annual Report 2017 for Albania outlined their comprehensive national action plan for a safer internet for children in Albania. UNICEF Albania was awarded a three-year grant by The Global Partnership to End Violence against Children.
The first session of the VIRAL Summit will look at understanding the impact the internet has on the lives of children and young people and how parents and professionals can support children’s experiences in a digital age. Parent Zone CEO Vicki Shotbolt will talk about the challenges that parents face in a digital age and what they can do to best support their children’s online experiences.
‘At Parent Zone we understand that children live in global digital spaces and we need to pool our knowledge about the best ways for parents to deal with the challenges and opportunities that brings, regardless of where they live. Our work is increasingly international reflecting this shared global parenting challenge,’ says Vicki.
Other sessions of the day will look at international best practices for the investigation and prosecution of child sexual abuse and exploitation, as well as challenges and opportunities in the Albanian context. The final session will look at growing up in a digital world – the opportunities for communication, learning and information that digital technologies provide young people.
