Parent Zone AI policy
Parent Zone takes a positive approach to the adoption of new technologies where they have the potential to support our social mission. We see real value for our programmes, products and services.
However, we will only use new technologies when we are confident they meet our ethical standards and appropriately support delivery, creativity and innovation.
Use of AI
Artificial intelligence (AI) presents potential opportunities to support the development, presentation and delivery of our programmes, products, digital services and content. Before doing so, Parent Zone will first consider whether:
- the use of AI is appropriate
- the use of a specific third-party AI product or tool is appropriate
- alternative options are not better suited
The use of AI by Parent Zone in the creation, presentation or distribution of programmes, products, digital services or content will be consistent with our organisational principles of quality, accuracy, fairness and privacy.
In the case of AI being used to support content creation, it will also be transparent and clearly communicated. The audience will be informed to the context, including:
- what AI has been used
- how AI has been used
- why AI has been used
Particular care will be taken around use of AI for content intended for children, young people and vulnerable persons.
Process and application
In the case of AI being used by Parent Zone for the creation, presentation or distribution of programmes, products, digital services or content will involve active human management, oversight and approval.
A senior member of our Studio or Programmes teams will be responsible and accountable for overseeing its deployment and ongoing use. Parent Zone managers will make sure they are aware of and effectively managing the use of AI by their teams. Parent Zone writers will actively verify and critically evaluate the accuracy of any AI content of information generated for the purpose of content development.
The use of data captured through any use of AI will be in line with Parent Zone’s data policy.
