Building AI and media literacy in schools: get free support

Media literacy and AI Literacy education matters. The message in the 2025 curriculum review was clear: schools need to respond to modern realities and provide children with an education that reflects their needs. Children are growing up immersed in online spaces, games, messaging groups and social media. AI tools are the norm, not an emerging novelty.

The review acknowledges that young people need specific skills. Not just in coding or using software but in citizenship too. In understanding, evaluating, and interacting responsibly with media and AI. For schools, the challenge now is in how to teach them.

It’s not straightforward – but we know how to help you.

Parent Zone’s team of experienced practitioners are already visiting UK schools to help them plan how to address these changes.

We provide on-site training, whole team workshops and leadership consultations for primary and secondary schools.

Since November, we have been offering schools guidance on how to respond to new educational requirements and what is needed to get there. We can help your school too.

“The session was incredibly helpful in understanding what AI is and how it impacts our lives. As teachers, we need to be more aware of the ever-changing online landscape and have strong Media Literacy to support and safeguard our students. I believe this session went a long way in preparing and equipping us with being more informed.”

We are flexible to your needs.

Is your priority media literacy? From our research around early years to delivering KS1-3 student interventions and staff training, we’ve been delivering media literacy education for a long time. We continue to refine or model or practice to reflect the demands placed on schools and other family-facing organisations. We can help you plan to implement it in your curriculum – and point you in the direction of free, best-in-class teaching resources.

Maybe you want to build understanding of AI – and help  your staff get beneath the skin of this world-changing technology? We can offer whole-school INSET day training or give you streamlined individual coaching, while helping you figure out how to structure it into existing timetables.

Maybe you’re responding to an emergency? The challenges schools are facing are constantly changing and we continue to research and adapt to offer support when it’s most needed. We can help you respond by identifying specific resources that can help you handle or prepare for these moments.

So the question is: do you know what you need?
