Search vs Scroll: A 2-Minute Media Literacy Activity for Form Time
A lot of media literacy advice still starts with "Google it." Check the URL. Look for .gov or .org. It's solid advice, for content pupils go looking for.
The problem is, most pupils aren't searching anymore. They're scrolling, and what reaches them arrives already picked by an algorithm, with no search bar, no URL, and no ".gov" in sight.
This free printable gives you a two-minute whiteboard activity that shows pupils the difference, and starts the conversation about what to do when the old checklist doesn't apply.
What's inside:
- A simple Search vs Scroll whiteboard exercise
- Follow-up questions for whichever way your class answers
Step-by-step instructions, no planning required
