Talking about life online can be challenging for any child or young person. Having speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) makes it almost impossible. With Talk:Tech, we sought to solve this problem by following product design principles.

We consulted with experts and stakeholders to understand the challenges young people face – including a lack of up-to-date resources about the online spaces they use. This involved testing with young people, parents and carers, SLCN specialists and teachers.

The feedback shaped our solution: a set of free professional resources that made it possible for any young person to describe what they are doing online. This include audio-visual flashcards and prompts illustrated and colourised from scratch.
