Media literacy is essential for families, yet it’s neither easy to explain nor define. With the Everyday Digital Life Skills programme, we took on this challenge – to make media literacy make sense to parents and the practitioners that support them. Our pedagogy involved ‘habit-stacking’ skills and behaviours like critical thinking and fact-checking with other daily activities.
Our government-funded programme worked with a community of practitioners to deliver and evaluate the programme over two years – to find out if this approach works. And the short answer is – yes it does. 88% of parents reported feeling more confident about managing their children’s digital lives.
Everyday Digital Life Skills is available to professionals on subscription alongside the Everyday Digital Parenting and Online Harms programmes.
